Caleb Williams’ injury came during a crucial fourth quarter possession at Soldier Field. The Chicago Bears quarterback scrambled toward the left side of the field with a clear route to the end zone, but his right leg appeared to give way without contact.

Williams attempted to get back up twice but needed assistance from trainers. After spending several minutes in the injury tent, he was taken to the locker room on a cart. Tyson Bagent replaced him as Chicago continued the game against Minnesota.

The Bears reached the red zone but could not turn their opportunities into a touchdown. Their 23-yard field-goal attempt was blocked, and Minnesota held on for a 9-3 victory.

Green Bay also lost two starters in rapid succession against the New York Jets. Jayden Reed was placed on a stabilizing backboard after a hit near the head and neck area, while right tackle Zach Bako Bewele suffered a knee injury on the following play. Both Packers players were ruled out. Green Bay ultimately defeated New York 20-17 in overtime.

New Orleans lost left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. after he landed awkwardly on his ankle during a play that ended with quarterback Tyler Shough being sacked. Banks was carted away and ruled out, with Asim Richards taking over at left tackle.

New England suffered another notable loss when starting right guard Mike Onwenu was taken off the field after a right ankle injury. The Patriots also ruled out outside linebacker Dre’Mont Jones, safety Craig Woodson, reserve safety Dell Pettus and tight end Eli Raridon because of injuries.

Atlanta’s quarterback situation is also changing. Michael Penix Jr. is nearing a return after missing the first two games while recovering from a torn ACL and could make his 2026 debut against Green Bay.

Tua Tagovailoa, meanwhile, is dealing with an oblique injury and could return to practice during the upcoming week.

The severity and recovery timelines for the injured players remain dependent on further medical evaluation. Atlanta is preparing for the possibility of Penix returning during Week 3.
