Nathan Gallagher, known for appearing on Below Deck Mediterranean, failed to attend Burwood Local Court on September 1 while facing three charges arising from an alleged incident in Sydney.
According to a police report obtained by news.com.au, Gallagher was arrested on December 27 after police responded to reports of an alleged assault involving a 29-year-old woman at a unit block in Melrose Park on Boxing Day.
Gallagher was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, choking without consent and common assault. He pleaded not guilty to all three charges and was granted conditional bail by Burwood Local Court on January 15.
At Tuesday’s hearing, prosecutors asked Judge Janine Lacy to deal with the matter in Gallagher’s absence. Burwood Local Court later confirmed to news.com.au that convictions were recorded against him on all three charges.
Judge Lacy also issued a warrant for Gallagher’s arrest. The Sydney Morning Herald reported that the judge had received documentation from the immigration compliance operations division indicating that Gallagher was overseas.
The judge noted the seriousness of the offences and the significant maximum penalties attached to them, while also recording that Gallagher had no previous criminal history.
According to The Daily Telegraph, Gallagher’s bail conditions did not require him to report to police, surrender his passport or remain in Australia.
The alleged victim, identified in reports as Gallagher’s former partner Gael Cameron, attended court prepared to give evidence. The hearing was unable to proceed because Gallagher did not appear.
Cameron, who is the mother of Gallagher’s one-year-old son, also had a two-year apprehended violence order against Gallagher finalised by the judge.
The pair met while filming the ninth season of Below Deck Mediterranean in 2024. Both worked as deckhands aboard the superyacht Mustique in Athens, Greece, where they began a relationship.
Gallagher previously told Rolling Stone that he would not publicly make accusations or release private documents on Instagram. He said he had retained evidence and intended to address the matter through appropriate channels, while arguing that publicly presented accounts might not reflect the complete circumstances.
Days before the September 1 hearing, fans reportedly noticed that Gallagher had deleted his Instagram account. The former couple also no longer follows each other on the platform.
An arrest warrant is now in place following Gallagher’s conviction in his absence. NSW Police had been approached by news.com.au for further comment.
