Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been photographed together at The Falkland Arms, a historic pub and boutique inn in Great Tew, Oxfordshire, during their return to life in England.

Photographs published by The Sun showed the couple arriving hand in hand on Thursday. Meghan wore a turtleneck, dark trousers and white sneakers, while Harry opted for jeans and a navy puffer jacket.

The couple’s meal was notably traditional. Meghan ordered fish and chips featuring haddock in gluten-free beer batter, fries, mashed peas and tartar sauce. Harry chose chicken, ham and leek pie with vegetables, mashed potatoes and gravy.

The outing comes after the Sussexes returned to the UK in late August with their children, Archie and Lilibet, and settled in the Cotswolds. The area, west of London, has become the family’s base for their new chapter in Britain.

A regular quoted by The Sun said the pub treats all visitors equally and that Harry and Meghan behaved like ordinary customers. Meghan had also reportedly visited the establishment the previous week with friend Kelly McKee Zajfen and her infant son.

The pub appearance came amid renewed concerns over the privacy and security of the Sussex children. The couple reportedly moved Archie and Lilibet to another school after their security team considered the journey from their home too long and busy, raising concerns about potential risks.

On Thursday, the couple’s spokesperson condemned photographers who were reportedly present around the children’s new school. The statement described photographers monitoring the school perimeter and looking into the grounds as an unacceptable intrusion into the children’s privacy.

Security has remained a major issue for Harry since he and his family left the UK in 2020. After the Sussexes stepped back as working royals, their taxpayer funded police protection was withdrawn, a decision Harry has continued to challenge.

The couple have said they privately fund security for their family but argue that private protection cannot fully replace police protection while they are in the UK.
