Will Princess Kate Join William at the 2026 Earthshot Prize?

KEY POINT

  • Prince William is scheduled to travel to Mumbai for the Nov. 17 Earthshot Prize ceremony.
  • Princess Kate has attended previous Earthshot ceremonies, including events in London and Boston.
  • Four presenters are confirmed, while additional names have yet to be announced.

Prince William is set to travel to Mumbai next month for the 2026 Earthshot Prize, with uncertainty surrounding whether Princess Kate will join him at the ceremony.

The Nov. 17 event will recognize five winners addressing environmental challenges through the categories Revive Our Oceans, Fix Our Climate, Build a Waste Free World, Protect and Restore Nature, and Clean Our Air.

Kensington Palace has not confirmed Kate’s attendance. The uncertainty has drawn attention because the Princess of Wales has previously taken an active role in the Earthshot Prize, including presenting awards at earlier ceremonies.

Kate attended the inaugural Earthshot Prize ceremony in London in 2021 alongside William and presented the Protect and Restore Nature award to Costa Rica. She returned for the 2022 ceremony in Boston, where she was among the presenters.

The 2026 ceremony already has four confirmed presenters: actor Rami Malek, Indian actresses Alia Bhatt and Sonam Kapoor, and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar. The Earthshot Prize has said more presenters will be announced, leaving Kate’s possible involvement unresolved.

Indian filmmaker and television personality Karan Johar will host the Mumbai ceremony. Performers are expected to include Shreya Ghoshal and Simone Ashley, while Earthshot Ambassadors Robert Irwin and Nomzamo Mbatha are also set to participate.

The Mumbai appearance would also mark a return to India for William and Kate, who previously visited India and Bhutan together in 2016. William launched the Earthshot Prize in 2020 to support solutions to major environmental challenges.

The 2026 ceremony forms part of William’s planned two-day visit to Mumbai. For now, however, Kensington Palace has not confirmed whether Kate will be part of the royal delegation.
