Good Morning America announced Monday, Aug. 24, that Burgess will return to Dancing With the Stars as a professional for the upcoming 35th season.
The 41-year-old dancer last competed on the series during Season 30 in 2021, when she was paired with actor Brian Austin Green, her fiancé at the time. Burgess finished 13th that season and has not competed as a professional on the show since.
The official Dancing With the Stars Instagram account welcomed Burgess back, describing her as an “absolute firecracker” returning to the ballroom.
Her celebrity partner for Season 35 remains unconfirmed. The complete lineup of celebrities and professional dancers is scheduled to be announced on Good Morning America Wednesday, Sept. 2.
Burgess joined the Dancing With the Stars troupe during Season 13 in 2011 before making her professional debut in Season 16 in 2013. During her initial run, she partnered with celebrities including Andy Dick, Antonio Brown, Nick Carter and Jesse Metcalfe.
Her biggest competitive achievement came in Season 27, when she and radio personality Bobby Bones won the Mirrorball Trophy.
Burgess later returned for Season 29 with Jesse Metcalfe and Season 30 with Brian Austin Green. She subsequently stepped away from the professional lineup.
Burgess had previously indicated that a return was possible. Earlier this summer, she said she had discussed a potential comeback with producers ahead of Season 34, although no formal offer materialized at that time.
She also said she would be willing to return if the show asked her to participate in the following season. That possibility has now become official with her Season 35 casting.
Burgess joins defending champion Witney Carson among the confirmed professional dancers for Season 35. Carson recently won Season 34 alongside Robert Irwin and has already been announced as Guillermo Rodriguez’s professional partner.
Other announced celebrity participants include Savannah Bananas player Jackson Olson, The Traitors alum Maura Higgins and Summer House star Ciara Miller.
The season will also feature the winner of Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro, whose competition is scheduled to conclude Aug. 31.
The complete Season 35 cast and professional pairings will be revealed Sept. 2 on Good Morning America. Dancing With the Stars is scheduled to return with a two-night premiere on Sept. 15 and 16 at 8 p.m. on ABC and Disney+.
